This policy explains what RivalEdge collects, why, how long we keep it, and the choices you have. We designed the product to be read-mostly and minimal: we read public catalog data and the contact details you give us, and nothing more. If anything here is unclear, email privacy@rivaledge.app.
What we collect
From the free web audit
- The domains you enter — your store and the competitor domains you ask us to compare. These are submitted to run the audit.
- Your email and niche/vertical — only if you ask us to email you the audit report. We use it to send that one report and, if you opt in, occasional product updates.
- Public competitor catalog data— product titles, prices, variants, stock status, and sale flags read from the same public storefront feeds a shopper’s browser sees. We do not access any private, customer, or order data of those stores.
From the installed Shopify app
- Your store identity and catalog— via Shopify’s official API, with the
read_productsscope only, to match your products against competitors. We do not request access to customer, order, or financial data. - Competitor observations over time — timestamped price/stock/promo snapshots of the public competitor catalogs you track, which build the price-history record that powers your charts and alerts.
- Account and billing metadata — your plan, subscription status, and settings. Payment is processed by Shopify; we never see or store card details.
How we use it
- To run audits and produce the ranked action list with linked evidence.
- To send the audit report you requested, daily digests, and account emails (welcome, trial reminders).
- To build and improve the accuracy of product matching and price-history features.
- To operate, secure, and debug the service.
We do not sell your data or share it with advertisers.
Data retention
We keep data only as long as it serves the purpose above, and we tie retention to your plan:
- Price-history window by plan— chart and history reads are limited to your plan’s window (Starter: 30 days; Growth and Pro: full history while subscribed).
- Downsampling — observations older than your active window are downsampled to periodic points rather than every crawl, to keep history useful without unbounded growth.
- Lead/audit email — if you requested an audit report, we keep your email and the audit metadata until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it.
- On uninstall— when you uninstall the app, we stop monitoring and delete your store’s stored data on the next retention cycle.
Your choices & deletion
- Unsubscribe — every email includes a one-click unsubscribe link; we honor it immediately via a suppression list.
- Delete the app— uninstalling from Shopify triggers deletion of your stored store data (we also honor Shopify’s
shop/redactand customer-redaction webhooks). - Request deletion directly — email privacy@rivaledge.app and we will delete your lead/account data.
Sharing & processors
We use a small number of service providers strictly to operate RivalEdge: Shopify (app platform and billing), our hosting provider, and an email delivery provider for digests and account mail. They process data on our behalf under their own terms; we do not authorize them to use it for their own purposes.
Security
Access to your store is through Shopify’s official OAuth/API with a narrow read-only scope. We transmit data over TLS and limit access to stored data to what the service needs to function.
